HUNTER FINISHES 28TH AT ONEIDA, QUIETLY MOVES UP NORTHERN OPEN AOY STANDINGS...
John Hunter provided two almost identical days on Lake Oneida for the 2nd Bassmaster's Northern Open event to grab a top 30 finish for the tournament. Hunter produced two solid bags Thursday and Friday, catching the 5 fish limit for each. A total two-day weight of 27lb-8oz was good enough to finish 28th, sending Hunter home with a pay stub and some valuable points.
Hunter, though he has not broken the top 20 in a Northern Open tournament this year, is quitely sitting in 17th of the AOY standings for the respective division. It will all come down to his finish at the 3rd and final Northern Open event on Lake Erie in Sandusky, Ohio as to whether he will qualify for the Bassmaster Elite Series or the Bassmaster Classic. A top 20 finish on Lake Erie would surely put him in the mix.
Before John can think about Lake Erie, he must first head to Hot Springs, AR for the 2015 Forrest Wood Cup, where he is qualified to compete as a co-angler thanks to his 1st place finish in the FLW COY point standings. The Forrest Wood Cup is slated for August 20th - 23rd, with the co-anglers only fishing on the first two days of the tournament.
