John Hunter revisited what he describes as "by far one of the best lakes in the country," as he took part in the Walmart FLW Tour event at Lake Chickamauga last weekend. Hunter participated as a co-angler, just as he has been throughout this season on the FLW Tour. Before the tournament, he was standing solid in 2nd place amongst co-anglers in terms of overall points on the Walmart FLT Tour. A top ten finish at Chick would surely propel him into 1st place, and John did just that.
Two solid days where Hunter amassed 25lbs-04oz, catching 9 fish, landed him his third top ten finish in the past month (Rayovac FLW Series at Lake Seminole - 5th, Walmart BFL at Barren - 8th). He ended up 9th amongst the co-anglers at Chickamauga, which moved him to the top spot in overall points on the tour. The top 35 professionals and co-anglers at the end of the regular tour season (one event left) qualify for the FLW Forrest Wood Cup. This tournament is known as the "Super Bowl of Bass Fishing," and will take place in Hot Springs, Arkansas at the end of August.
John Hunter knows there is still work to be done before looking ahead to the Forrest Wood Cup. He heads next to the East Coast, where the last Walmart FLW Tour event takes place on the Potomac River in La Plata, Maryland.
