John Hunter started his third day off right, snagging to fishing for about 10 lbs within his first five casts. However, those two fish would turn out to be his only two for the day. His weight for the day would lead him to a 5th place finish at the FLW Rayovac Series tournament at Lake Seminole.
"I got the right bites out there today. I just needed a couple more like those to get to the top."
Though he wasn't able to take home what could have been a $40,000 pay day, Hunter was able to break into the top 10 for the first time in a tournament where he was participating as a professional, rather than a co-angler. In the first two FLW Rayovac Series tournaments, he hadn't been able to finish in the top 100, let alone the top 10.
"That is big for me. I haven't been able to fish like I wanted to in the earlier two Rayovac tournaments where I was a pro. To finish in the top 10 and finally get over that hump is huge."
At the 5th spot, Hunter was able to bring home a $9000 check. He will have almost two weeks off before heading to Lake Chickamauga for his next event, a Walmart FLW Tour competition where he will go back to being a co-angler. John Hunter has some history at Chickamauga, so he should be able to make things interesting come June 11th.
